The sequel to original smash 2D hit! I did a ton of work on this in the month between when I got out of college and when I got a real job, and unfortunately I still haven’t finished it since JumpSwitch started up (I’ll finish it one day!). This time around I used Direct3D for the graphics, and came up with my own scripting language that I used for all of the gameplay logic, enemy AI, cutscenes, and level data. It was pretty neat coming up with that, and I even made some tools for injecting scripts into the game while running and editing variables. I also made a proper map editor this time, which made it a lot easier to actually make some decent levels. It also helped that all of the levels in my game are from classic NES/SNES games. 😀
